Industrial Networks and Data
MEC 150 provides a comprehensive overview of industrial network architectures and data handling relevant to modern automation and control systems. Students will explore key communication protocols such as EtherNet/IP, Modbus, and PROFINET, understanding their operational principles, configuration parameters, and typical applications in industrial environments. The course also delves into OPC UA for secure and vendor-neutral data exchange, alongside essential techniques for data acquisition, storage, and logging. Through a blend of theoretical instruction and practical exercises, technicians will gain the knowledge and abilities required to effectively integrate, maintain, and troubleshoot industrial communication infrastructure and manage critical operational data. This course is designed to equip learners with skills directly applicable to various industrial automation roles.
